October meeting

The theme for the October meeting was to use a poem or a song in the layout.  This meeting was taken by Sonia who had provided two lovely poems - The Clock of Life and Rhoda Bulter's Shetlandic.  The Shetland ForWirds website has lots of Shetland poetry if you want to use another Shetland poem for a layout.

Not as many members as usual but we managed to spread out and use all the available space!

Here are the two layouts Sonia made using the poems - note the map of Shetland.

Members should note that the November meeting is the "lucky dip" one where you do a layout using the papers you got in your "lucky bag".  If you missed the October meeting you could either swap with a friend or do your own project at the next meeting.

September meeting

This month's session was based on the CSI blog and members were asked to use the following case file as inspiration for their layouts.  The CSI blog provides great ideas for scrapbooking layouts and there are lots of layouts in the gallery - well worth a look!

This following are the layouts created by members using the CSI case file.

Shetland Scrapbookers' 10th Anniversary Layouts

Shetland Scrapbookers celebrate their 10th anniversary this year (2016) and decided it would be appropriate to do a layout to celebrate this important milestone.  Here are some of the layouts created by our members.

Members' layouts from the June meeting

The theme for the June meeting was to use a black and white photo and some lovely papers provided by Jo.  The variety of layouts created by members ranged from the vintage to the very clean and simple and demonstrated how the same papers could be used to create very different looks.

August meeting

Jennie led the August session and showed members how to make embellishments for scrapbook pages and cards.  Jennie began by reminding members how to make paper flowers.  These were then put on decorated envelopes which were cut from a Tim Holtz die.

Here are some examples of Jennie's beautiful embellishments.

The picture below shows what members were trying to emulate!

And here are the members concentrating on making the flowers - you could hear a pin drop!

Information for members
  • the "10" challenge has been extended to 29 October - more details can be found in an earlier post
  • the September meeting will be a CSI layout and details will be sent to members - there will be no tutor leading this session

June Meeting

Jo provided a selection of papers and embellishments for the June session and challenged members to create a 12 x 12 layout using a black and white photo and some of these papers.  The papers were from a lovely collection by Docraft Papermania entitled Midnight Blush which worked very well with black and white photos.  It will be interesting to see how members used these papers!

Although the turn out was down slightly this month, perhaps due to the time of year, members had a most productive morning and everyone enjoyed the pancakes and shortbread provided by Elizabeth and Margaret.

The club has lots of resources for members to use.  Here Jessie is trying to figure out the Cricut!

Please note

There is no meeting in July because of the summer holidays and there is a change of date for the August meeting - this will now take place on Saturday 20 August.
