August meeting

Jennie led the August session and showed members how to make embellishments for scrapbook pages and cards.  Jennie began by reminding members how to make paper flowers.  These were then put on decorated envelopes which were cut from a Tim Holtz die.

Here are some examples of Jennie's beautiful embellishments.

The picture below shows what members were trying to emulate!

And here are the members concentrating on making the flowers - you could hear a pin drop!

Information for members
  • the "10" challenge has been extended to 29 October - more details can be found in an earlier post
  • the September meeting will be a CSI layout and details will be sent to members - there will be no tutor leading this session

January 2014 : Pink Framed Layout

The theme for our January meeting was a framed layout and Julie designed this wonderful layout with a large number of different techniques! - stamping with Gesso, working with beads,, buttons and wire and making a paper clay cameo.

This was our last meeting of the current year.  We kick off next year with our AGM on Saturday 22 February 2014 at 10am.  Please bring layouts to work on - a good opportunity to complete some of those unfinished ones.

The new programme will commence with our March meeting - a challenge layout.

November Meeting : Embellishments and Collage

The theme for the November meeting was Embellishments and Collage.

Jennie showed us how to make an embellishment for a scrapbook page from the Sissix Envelope Die and also designed a layout for it which incorporated some small areas of collage.

Julie gave a demonstration of how to use gilding flakes to make small embellishments for a layout - flowers, flourishes, leaves, etc. - using different types of glues, including tape, and also stamps.

Members brought along their layouts from the October meeting (see previous post) and we also circulated a list for ideas for next year's programme.

There will be no meeting in December but we look forward to seeing everyone at the January meeting.
